Wordpress Sites potentially offline **UPDATE: Rolled Back**

Posted by WSSSupport on August 3, 2013 :: 9:27 am in Uncategorized

Due to the rising tide of Wordpress brute force attacks, adjustments have been made on many web servers, which may have taken some Wordpress sites offline.

If your site is impacted, you can fix this by adding the line “SecFilterEngine off” to the .htaccess file in the root of your Wordpress blog. If this does not fix the issue, or if you would like assistance doing so, please contact support at support@websitesource.com

NOTE: This fix does not apply to users on web24.websitesource.net. If you are on this server, and you encounter this error, please contact us immediately to perform a server-side fix for your site.

NOTE 2: This does not impact VPS or Plesk-based sites.

UPDATE: These changes have been rolled back. We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may have caused.
